VIP enjoyed a successful exhibition at the World Tunnelling Conference 2017 which was recently held in Bergen, Norway.

The yearly event which is organised by the ITA and hosted by a different member nation each year promotes the use of tunnels and underground space through knowledge sharing and application of technology.

Sales and Technical Director Steve Casey and Business Development Technical Manager Matt Levitt were present to showcase VIP’s range of gaskets for segmentally lined tunnels which included profiles for hydrophilic, glued-in and VIP’s latest innovation in cast-in gaskets.

The unique manufacturing technique used for VIP’s cast-in gaskets helps eliminate the risk of corner point loading, often the cause of cracked or damaged segments.

Commenting on the exhibition, Matt Levitt said “We met with current and prospective customers during the exhibition ranging from national tunnelling associations to designers and consultants located across the globe.

We received a lot of interest and positive feedback, with many of them interested in how our cast-in profiles could be used in their future projects. A hot topic of discussion was how many people had experienced cracking and spalling issues on current or past projects and they were very interested in how VIP’s cast-in profiles can help to prevent this.

We also received positive feedback on the manufacturing process which allows corners to be made to any angle, including rotation through the z-axis where required.”

While the WTC is an international affair with delegates visiting from different countries, not everyone is able to attend. If you were unable to visit or didn’t get a chance to speak with us we will be exhibiting again later this year at the ATC2017 which is held in Sydney Australia, 30th October to 1st November.
